National Zoological Park New Delhi is one of the biggest zoos in India. Officially started on 1st November, 1959 with the name Delhi Zoo it was changed to National Zoological Park after being the model for the other Zoos in the country. With the 176-acre of land the Zoo provides home for endangered species and also helps them to breed.

Delhi Zoo Timings:

CLOSED ON ALL FRIDAYS AND NATIONAL HOLIDAYS.

• The Delhi zoo is open from 9.00 am to 4.30 pm during summers, that is from 1st April to 15th october.
• The timings in winter season is 9.30 am to 4.00 pm, that is from 16 October to 31 March.
• Zoo is closed on Friday and national holidays.

Delhi zoo Parking Charges:

Vast area of land is provided for parking so no need to worry about the parking space. Rs  40 is charged per vehicle. Make sure to reach in the morning during weekends to avoid crowd.

There is a separate entrance fee for Indians and foreigners.

Services Inside:

The entire trip will take around 3 to 4 hours by walk. You can also opt for battery car which covers the journey in 1.5 hours. One of the main advantages of the battery service is its Hip and Hop facility where you can board any battery car at any time based on the seat availability. This facility provides the visitor to enjoy visiting all the animals without comprising the time. A normal battery car will have the capacity to carry 15 persons. For a disabled person wheel chair is provided free of cost.

Rest rooms are available at regular intervals and canteens are available which provide beverages and Cold drinks and Ice creams (none of the canteens provides solid foods)

What you enjoy at Zoo?

 Wide variety of animals and birds are available for the people to enjoy.
1)      White tiger is a widely attracted among kids.
2)      Jaquar that belongs to cat family is an added attraction which is very rare to spot in other zoo in India.
3)      Lion family can be sighted at a very short distance. It’s not enclosed in cave but made available to roam in a vast area of land to give a forest like feeling.
4)      Snake museum is located near the tiger cage where you can find many varieties of snacks. These snakes are enclosed in a glass. You can watch the snakes feeding on the chicken as whole which stuns us.
5)      Giraffe,bear,hyena,African elephant are also very distinct animals that you can spot in this zoo very close by.
6)      You can spot wide variety of parrots and owls. Lot of noise is created by the parrots. While the parrots fly we can spot its huge wing which is easily attracted by the visitors.
7)      A board is kept outside each cave/cage which displays the information about the animals.
Information such as what animals feed on, where they are spotted in the world, how many kilos of food they consume etc.
8)      Peacocks are allowed to roam freely if you are likely enough you can spot them fly and see them dancing.
9)      Close to 100 numbers of Indian deer and black buck can be spotted.
10)    Flamingo with its attracting orange colour are hugely found in the pond which also acts as a habitant for wide variety of birds.

                                                       
Dos and Don’t At Zoo:

1)      Bags are not allowed inside the zoo. Exceptions are for ladies hand bag and children food. (cloak rooms are available to deposit bags)
2)      Strict no to plastic bags.
3)      Outside eatables are not allowed inside.
4)      Should not feed the animals at any cost.
5)      Waste should be dumped only inside the dustbin.

If you want to enjoy the beauty of nature in a hassle free environment and with budget as a constraint, National zoological Park is the best and preferable option. Please note that a visitor has fallen into a tiger enclosure in the year of 2014. Please be safe in any zoo including the Delhi zoo.
